Our book, Iceland With Kids, is published!

Our book, Iceland With Kids, is published!

The second edition of our book, Iceland With Kids, was published in February 2020. You can find it on Amazon:

Iceland With Kids paperpack

Iceland With Kids eBook

You can also find it on most other online bookstores. Your local brick and mortar bookstore should be able to order you a copy as well.

I’ve spent a lot of time on the book (and learning how to make a book!), and I hope it can make planning your Iceland vacation easier. Here are some things to know about the book:

  • Lots of the content can also be found on this web site. So you don’t really need to buy the book. But it’s much better organized in the book. And there are some sample tours and maps you won’t find on the web site. The maps are really nice, because someone else made them for me! Here’s one of them:
Golden Circle map from our book. It’s tough to read here, but in the book it’s a 2 page spread, so 17 inches by 11 inches!
  • If you buy the print book from Amazon, an eBook version free. Details are in the book!
  • You also get free access to our Driving in Iceland video course. This is normally a paid course, but it’s completely free to anyone who purchases the book.
  • This is not your typical travel book. You won’t find lists of hotels or restaurants. Maybe this is just me, but I tend to ignore those in books and just look online for reviews.
  • You will find exhaustive coverage of getting your cell phone working, and how to drive in Iceland. Seriously, there are over 2 dozen pictures of road signs!
  • There are over 350 color pictures in the book. I hope it’s fun to browse the destinations covered in the book, even if you don’t visit that part of Iceland. Here’s a wonderful e-mail I received from someone who purchased the book: “Just wanted to say again how much I like your book! Have 2 other guidebooks but since buying yours didn’t open them again. So boring compared to yours.”
  • I’ll answer any questions you have about your Iceland trip if you buy the book! Okay, I’ll answer them whether you buy the book or not, so I guess that’s not much of an incentive.

Reviews about Iceland With Kids

“Just wanted to say again how much I like your book! Have 2 other guidebooks but since buying yours didn’t open them again. So boring compared to yours.”

“The book is very informative and exactly what parents need!”

“Just what I needed in the weeks before heading out.”

“The book is easy to read and feels very personal, and takes into account all the activities you might be looking to do.”

“This book feels really tailored to the kind of experience my family wants to have, which is so rare!”

“The book is full of practical advice that I do not remember finding in other travel/ guide books I read about Iceland.”

“This is a great book, extremely helpful with a great narrative, personal feel “

So take a look at the book. And thanks for reading, whether you purchase a book or not! I’ll continue keeping the web site up to date, and answering questions in comments or the forum. Thank you!

Hi! What time of year are you heading to Iceland? I think the key is to wear layers, and have hats and gloves. (Winter hats are inexpensive and make a big difference!) Wool is a great baselayer, but it’s also expensive if you’re never going to use it again.

Here is my post about clothing in Iceland. Hope that helps!
