This is us almost 15 years ago on our first trip to Iceland.
We very much enjoyed our first trip, though it was just a few days long.
On that first trip, not only was Lora six months pregnant, but Eric was on crutches from having a pin put in his hip a couple of months earlier. If we can do the trip pregnant, on crutches, with three children ages 3, 5, and 7, and still have fun, you can do it, too!
A Sabbatical in 2016 allowed us to spend the summer in Iceland (now with 5 kids!) We spent the first half of our trip traveling around Ring Road and experiencing all of the points of interest we could make it to, so we could let our readers know which ones we think are worth a look. In the second half of the trip, we settled down near Reykjavik and explored the more urban tourist attractions.
A summer 2019 trip allowed us to update our travel guide book. The second edition of Iceland With Kids came out in February 2020. And, instead of visiting Iceland in 2020, we wrote a children’s picture book book about puffins in Iceland!
We also have a book that’s useful to anyone visiting Iceland, with or without kids: 100 Tips for Visiting Iceland. (The second edition will be coming in 2024! If you buy that book now, let us know and we’ll send you a free digital edition of the new book when it comes out.)
