Live From Iceland!

Wednesday, May 25 Update

After yesterday’s long (for us) car ride, we spent today in and around Höfn.  We explored the town a little, and found um, those boots above. As well as the Gamlabúð Folk Museum, which is attached to the Visitor’s Center by the harbor. It’s a small 2 story museum, but it’s free!

Next door is the Maritime Museum, which is also free.

In the afternoon, we headed to the Höfn swimming pool, which features various pools of varying temperatures, and various waterslides of varying heights. We highly recommend the red slide, but you’ll probably get stuck on the blue one and have to push your way down.

Finally, those of us who still had some energy left headed to Pakkhús Restaurant. (Despite the Internet’s insistence, the restaurant is only open for dinner at 6 PM; lunch service should start up again soon.) Service was very efficient– some people may find it rushed, but with kids we were pleased. And the food was very good. There’s lots of langoustine on the menu (a type of lobster that Höfn is famous for), but we opted for some very good lamb:

Tomorrow is glacier day!
